How to Install Presets in Lightroom CC (Mac or Windows)

Installing presets in Lightroom CC is quick and straightforward. First, make sure you have your preset files ready—they should be in .xmp format. If your presets are in a zip folder, unzip them before you start.

1. Download Your Presets
After purchase, your presets will likely download as a .zip file to your “Downloads” folder. Unzip if needed, or keep it zipped for import.

2. Open Lightroom CC
Launch Lightroom CC on your desktop and make sure you’re signed in to your Adobe account.

3. Import the Presets
Import at least one photo into Lightroom, then click on it to enter Edit mode.
In the right-hand panel, click the Presets icon (two sliders). Then click the three dots (•••) in the top right and choose “Import Presets.”
A file browser will open—select the .zip file you downloaded, then click Import. You’ll see a confirmation message: “Presets Successfully Installed.”

4. Apply a Preset
Select any photo, open the Presets panel, and choose a preset to apply. Hover over each one to preview how it looks before applying.

5. Fine-Tune with the Opacity Slider
Lightroom CC includes a preset amount slider that lets you adjust the strength of the preset—perfect for subtle tweaks or dialing it back.

And that’s it—your presets are installed and ready to use!
